In Winter

8 in x 8 in. oil on canvas - SOLD
Though not particularly adept at landscapes, after not painting much for several months, I resist picking up where I left off with the little still life’s. It seems reasonable to expect events that change one’s, perspective, assumptions, and awareness to somehow reflect in one’s art. Yet despite suddenly finding nearly everything I have done to date unsatisfying, I have painted enough to know that even the most momentous life events do not automatically translate to the easel; only hard mileage produces progress. So for better or worse, here is a painting in which moments of light break through the foggy winter cold. Not sure what's next, or when.
