Earlier limited palette painting

14 x 18" o/c
This is the another workshop study from a few years ago, done with a limited "Zorn" palette--in this case white, ocher, terra rosa (instead of cad red) and ivory black. This was about a 3-hr painting (minus breaks). As well as being a better likeness, I think the brushwork is much more confident here than in the painting in my last post--probably because I had been painting 9 hours/day for several days when I did it. Working daily does make a big difference. (Kinda like golf.) Or maybe it was due to using bigger brushes.
